AUSTRALASIAN PORCELAIN ART TEACHERS

2026 NATIONAL EXHIBITION & CONVENTION
'SALT'

13th to 18th October, 2026

 

The Australasian Porcelain Art Teachers Association's national exhibition and convention, titled 'Salt' and hosted by APAT WA, is being held from 13th to 18th October 2026. The venue is the brand new arts and cultural convention centre, Saltwater, in the centre of Busselton's art hub.

 

The Convention opens on Tuesday 13th at 6:00pm with an opening function at the Hilton Garden Inn. A farewell dinner will be held at the Kyst Restaurant at 6:30pm on Sunday 18th October. The exhibition will be open daily from 13th to 18th.

 

The featured artist for the 2026 convention is Susan Thumm from Texas in the USA and there will be opportunities to attend mini-workshops and demonstrations from a wide variety porcelain artists. A schedule of demonstrators, mini-workshops etc will be released shortly by APAT-WA. Their website link is www.apat-wa.com.au.

 

Following the convention there will be a 3-day school with featured artist Susan Thumm.

I will be presenting two demonstrations during the Convention.

 

#1 "Leschenaultia - A True Blue" featuring the stunning, true blue, WA Wildflower. Covering how to approach painting and how to incorporate into traditional and modern designs.

 

#2 "Colour - The Science and China Painting" - The Science of colour, its relationship to painting and how an improved knowledge can grow you skills.

Four artists will conduct mini workshops during the convention. They are:

The Venue

The City of Busselton W.A. is located just over 200km south of Perth on the beautiful Geographe Bay.

 

The exhibition will be held in the newly-opened arts and cultural convention centre, Saltwater, situated in the centre of Busselton's art hub. The centre is within walking distance of galleries, accommodation, beach, jetty, museums and great eating places!
